- Eligible Recipients: The Scholarship shall be limited to students who have completed the first year of law study.
- Advertising and Publicity: An announcement of the availability of the Scholarship shall be posted o the “Scholarship Board” and in the Administrative Offices.
- Application Procedures: Applicants shall submit a Letter of Application which includes a statement listing their personal attributes which they feel
would qualify them for the Scholarship.
- Law School Selection Process: Completed applications shall be reviewed by a LA VERNE Scholarship Committee comprised of two faculty members, the Registrar, Director of Admissions and the LA VERNE representative to the Boar of Directors. The LA VERNE Scholarship committee shall recommend at least three applicants, based upon the Criteria and Policy Preference listed below, and forward them to the Foundation Scholarship Committee one month prior to the April meeting of the Board of Directors.
- Law School Criteria and Policy Preference: Applications shall be screened and the top applicants shall be selected based on the following criteria:
Academic achievement; Community Service; School Involvement; Financial need; Personal development since undergraduate degree; and “First Generation” background.
- Foundation Selection Process: The Scholarship Committee shall consider the LA VERNE applicants recommended by the LA VERNE Scholarship Committee. The LA VERNE representative to the Board shall present the background of each candidate to the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee shall recommend candidates for presentation to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall select the LA VERNE scholarship recipient.
- Notification and Recognition: The Scholarship Vice President shall notify the selected candidate(s). In addition to any public announcements through the Board of Directors, LA VERNE shall notify the student(s) by mail of their selection.
